I picked this book up because of the back blurb. Any write up that begins with "Succubus (n.) An alluring, shape-shifting demon who seduces and pleasures mortal men. Pathetic (adj.) A succubus with great shoes and no social life. See: Georgina Kincaid" is great. Even better when you have a...

Good versus Evil – but the Angels and Demons are drinking buddies, and we are on evils side. What a concept!

Succubus Blues was the first ever book published by Richelle Mead, and just what a debut this is!

We’ve got Georgina Kincaid, a succubus, who works in a bookstore. I love it! I also adore Georgina (and it has nothing to do with the sexy bookstore worker thing either btw!), she’s just an incredibly likable character. Well, a succubus is supposed to be, but it actually comes through. She’s dynamic and fun and just a great gal.

I have to say though – this book has the ‘best’ example of unfiled desire I’ve encountered. The frustration of it!

My biggest issue with the entire story is Warren. This is her boss. And the guy she uses to get her ‘energy hit’ from. And he’s just icky. I know I’m not supposed to like him, and I hate that he sets my moral outrage meter off. But I really do find him and everything to do with him pretty icky. He has only one redeeming moment when he defends Georgina. Thankfully he’s only a small bit part.

Hugh, however, shouldn’t be just a bit part. He is, sadly, but he has so much potential to become quite a cool secondary character, so I am hoping to see more of him as the series progresses.

Actually, that’s pretty much the thread of my review, there is so much potential for character development. The side characters are all great. The vampire duo are fun and sort of Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis sort of way. The head Angel & Demon have so many possibilities for hidden depths and interesting pasts. Erick could also become quite an interesting sort of man of mystery.

Although the story rounded off very well (and oh gosh! The emotional drain from the last few chapters as I got so intensely involved with the climax of the story was quite impressive... ) it has been set up quite nicely for book two. Not in the sense of the story continues (although aspects of it can and will), but more in the set up of the worlds and the characters.

Hopefully Richelle lets loose in Succubus Nights (book two of the Georgina Kincaid series), I am so looking forward to seeing what becomes to all of her really wonderful characters (please, please, please just not let her kill them off without making them horrible first, I don’t know how I could cope!)

Fun, Smart, invigorating story with and interesting twist. A succubus that does not want to take from good men. An aloof writer and a dark sexy stranger strugle for the protaginist's attention. An Angel and a demon friends in thie fight to survive. This is an unexpected fun tale and I can't wait to get to book 2.

I love Richelle Mead. She writes a great fight scene and her characters are so full of life and torment. Fun, quick read.

Georgina Kincaid is tired of being a succubus. She wants to settle down, fall in love and have a family, and her crush on thriller writer Seth Mortensen is doing nothing to change her mind - quite the opposite. But that'll have to wait until she can shut down whoever's murdering demons and angels alike in Seattle.

I'd gone in expecting a succubus-in-love story with a chick-lit voice. Not really my thing. But once Georgina got serious and the plot developed, I was surprised, and mightily impressed. The stuff about angels is so fascinating, the drawcard of the novel, but no one alerted me beforehand about this factor. Had I known of its presence, it probably would've moved up my reading order.

Social commentary brings books alive for me, makes them feel more real, and I definitely like characters more when I agree with their opinions...

"This country is so in love with itself," he complained, sipping sake. "It's like one big mirror. It just sits all day and looks at itself. When it can be bothered to look away, it's only to tell others 'do this' or 'be just like me.' Our military and economic policies bully people outside our borders, and inside, conservative groups bully other citizens. I hate it."

Good thing I already have Books 2, 3 and 4 in the series waiting on my shelf :-)

Georgina Kincaid is my absolute favorite series of Richelle Meads, and let me just add that her books are all fantastic! This is definately the kind of book that you can't put down. It's exciting, and funny with just the right amount of romance!

It was ok. I felt like it was entirely too long for what the story was and had too many unnecessary scenes. I didn't like it enough to want to read the next one.

I haven't read many paranormal books/series, but from what I have encountered, Richelle Mead seems to stand above the rest. There is a depth to her characters and an involvement that I have not come across in any other series. While some may be discouraged by the 'adult' content, her characters more than make up for an uncomfortable feelings. Mead, in each of her series, has created a rich and inviting world, inhabited by deeply flawed, but always entertaining characters. Funny, smart, and feisty are not only words describing Mead's Georginia Kincaid, but her wonderful Succubus series.
