“All I can say is what a touching and comforting story this was. Richard Matheson takes you on a wild ride in the afterlife through Chris Nielsen. When I first heard of "What Dreams May Come," it was by the movie staring Robin Williams. It took some time but I finally got around to read this....”see full review » see other reviews »
“An interesting read.
Chris Nielsen dies in an accident and realises that there is life after death. Chris is drawn back to the sorrow of his wife, Ann. He desperately tries to contact Ann, but fails. He has to move on to find out what awaits him next.
The author has created an interesting concept of heaven and hell. He has incorporated the Hindu and Buddhist philosophy of karma, or the biblical saying of reaping what one sows.”
“I consider the film that's based on this book one of my all-time favourites and, although the book is quite different in many respects, I love the book also. I read it years after I'd seen the film and in both cases I love the imagery of the afterlife and the thought that if two people are meant to be together, nothing will keep them apart.”Suzi wrote this review Wednesday, July 25, 2012. “You've seen the movie, now read the book. I love the movie's visuals, but the book takes you so much deeper. ”Marsha G wrote this review Monday, July 16, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I saw the movie years ago, and at that time, I was intrigued, but the whole concept was very hard for me to digest. I read the book this year shortly after the death of my son. The book was very comforting and inspired me to read so many other books which focus and reflect on the afterlife. Both the book and the movie are excellent and offer hope to the grieving, I think. ”Jacqueline A MacPhee wrote this review Sunday, July 1, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful?
