Here we have a bizarre and ambiguous treatise on morality. Set in a dream scape feudal Russia, we follow our shadowy hero down many a winding road. Gogol pretty much lost his mind in the compilation of this dark work, and there are chunks and pieces missing from the manuscript that are rather telling in their placement (or lack thereof).
