My reactions to books often change over time; however, this book has consistently been one that I would place in the 5 best books I have ever read. May does a beautiful job of explaining the role of myth and symbolism, and points out that this is much of what we are dealing with in life. For myths are not false, as popularly conceived, but rather belief or value systems which cannot be proven true.
