One of the few books I was forced to read for school that I didn't have to be forced to read!

This book is 1/2 how-to and 1/2 how he did it, with Rodriguez detailing what he went through to get El Mariachi produced as well as going through what you need to do to get your film made. Perfect for those who want to do it themselves without paying $100,000 for film school.

A truly incredible and inspirational book for any aspiring filmmaker. You'll want to go out and shoot something (with a camera) after flying through this quick read.

This book is awesome and this man is amazing. If you're into his films, or film in general you should read it.

Robert's explanation of the filming, editing, and marketing of El Mariachi is very interesting. Great for some encouragement when facing money troubles on an independent project.

Robert Rodguez exploded into the Hollywood scene with the movie El Mariachi. It was made with money he earned by submitting his body for medical testing. This is his diary of the time he spent shooting and making his movie. I've always liked his movies and this was a great read on the how-to aspect of his film making. The DVD release (if you watch it) has been made up with (from what I've heard) about a million dollars of restoration so is much better looking than his original film but is still a great little story.

As a young(ish) film maker trying to teach myself how to make movies i came across this book and of the several like it that i have read i think this one is hands down the best, part text book, part script, part biography this book is Funny and Informative. Highly recommended to anyone interesting in film making or just looking for something fun to read.
