When I first saw the cover I thought "Another Buffy" then I read it, and I like Kitty her life is complicated, she's alone and exiled from her pack and yet she still manages somehow to get through all her troubles. Unfortunately I can't get her other books! The city really is the new jungle!

Celebrity werewolf and late-night radio host Kitty Norville prefers to be heard and not seen. So when she's invited to testify at a Senate hearing on behalf of supernaturals, and her face gets plastered on national TV, she inherits a new set of friends, and enemies, including the vampire mistress of the city; an über-hot Brazilian were-jaguar; and a Bible-thumping senator who wants to expose Kitty as a monster. Kitty quickly learns that in this city of dirty politicians and backstabbing pundits, everyone's itching for a fight.

I give this book 3.5 stars.
If you read my review of Kitty and the Midnight Hour then you know I was having a hard time getting into this series. I’m glad to say this second book picked up some steam. I enjoyed it more than the first book. It was nice to see Kitty start to develop a spine. I also loved that we got to see Cormac again and we get to see a few more types of supernaturals in this story. We actually get to see more of her lawyer as well and learn more about his personality. I also found it interesting how there were some comparisons drawn to the treatment of supernaturals to that of other groups that were at one point or another persecuted for just being who they are. Overall an enjoyable story and I am hoping this series continues to get better and better.

Kitty has matured some and while getting the hell out of Denver, she has become more of her own person(wolf). This was a great 2nd book in the series. There is so much going on you won't want to lay this book down for a second. It's fascinating seeing Kitty realize that she can make it on her own and watching her become a kiss ass crusader. I loved this series so much, I immediately started the next in the series even though it was the wee hours of the night.

Not as good as the first book, but still a good read. I have a feeling the next one will be really good, so it kept me going through the book! I am enjoing going through a series of books with the same main character. Watching her grow up and mature as she takes on the world.

I actually liked this second Kitty book a little more than the first. There wasn’t all of the pack politics, and Kitty is starting to show her backbone. Of course, there are politics of a different sort at work here, as Kitty has been subpoenaed to testify in front of a congressional committee about the existence of preternatural beings. She finds herself bombarded from all sides, by not only a fire-and-brimstone conservative senator and a tabloid reporter, but also the mistress of DC’s vampires. I did find the confrontation with cult leader Elijah Smith to be a little too quick, almost an afterthought. I think there should have been some more buildup for that storyline. But overall, I really liked this and will definitely be continuing with the series. And hopefully, there will be more of were-jaguar Luis!

Great follow-up to the first novel. I love how Kitty's character continues to evolve as the world unfolds and evolves around her. I really am enjoying this series and look forward to reading the next book.

Another good, quick read by Carrie Vaughn. Once again Kitty is faced with mounting issues as she confronts the United States Senate over the issue of the paranormal. The book is easy to read and fast paced.

Probably my favorite in the series. I loved her time in Washington and all the people she met there.

I really liked this one, it was great to see Kitty make new friends and feel more safe in her own skin.
