This was my favorite book that was assigned to us this summer, because it was fun to read, and i was also able to learn a lot from it. However, the ending was HORRIBLE, and i think it left me hanging, but not in a good way. If you read this book be ready for a disappointing ending. However, the rest of the book was well written, and it told a very good story. The characters were also well developed and interesting to read about. I found this book to be quite funny because Balzac notices that even if one lives in the same region, one has different aspects and different cultures. For example, the townspeople never have seen a violin nor and alarm clock but these were ordinary things for Balzac. But I would not read this book in my spare time because it would not interest me.
