This was a reread, but with a great deal of space in between. I read it first in grad school when I was undertaking a project on Cather and read all her works. I do remember that I liked it very much but it was more for the usual Cather reasons: setting and wonderful main characters.

This time it added for me the information on the settling of this part of the West and the introduction of everything from Hopi and Navajo tribes to Kit Carson. Since I had recently read BLOOD AND...
