If you are expecting this to be a funny book, skip it. If you want to read an insight into an individual and a group which was very funny, read it. These are strictly diary entries, but it was interesting to read about what the member of Python thought of each other, and the process to be funny, be creative, and be original. Not all is or was what it seems/ed. Good read, though.

Interesting from the point of view of Python history. I found Palin irritating because he is such a champagne socialist.

This is a thick read (about 600 pages) but goes fairly quickly. For Python fans who are curious about the group's working relationships, this will asnswer a lot of questions. One of the good points is that we catch Mr. Palin's perspective as it was in the moment, rather than looking back which can alter perspective. I do wonder what the other Pythons' perspectives were, though.

I loved this book. It was funny and gave interesting topical flashbacks to what was happening in England and the United States in the 1970s.

Well-written diaries. A great portrait of an era.

I've always enjoyed diaries, I think Monty Python is hilarious, and Michael Palin was always my favorite. So, yeah, I quite liked this book. Palin comes across as a genuinely nice, conscientious, articulate and funny person. And he is clearly devoted to his family, which makes him just that much more likeable. I hope he continues to release further editions; I would be particularly interested in his diaries from the 1990s.
