The very best part in this book was when they were driving in the big truck. I think this book is just okay because some parts were a little dry and boring. My favorite character was Fi because she changed so much during the book. She started out as a rich town girl and became a soldier. This book would've been better if the author were to add more descriptive language because as I said before, it was dry and boring. I really enjoyed some parts of the book, but most were not descriptive, and that is why I don't really recommend it to most people. The action is good but it is only at some parts. The setting is good because it helps the characters hide. The characters are good because they are developed and changing. The mood of the story changes and is confusing. The themes or message is love for friends, country, and family. ”
“The most exiting part in the book is when they rescue lee in the middle of the night and all most get killed by soldiers. How ever the entire book I thought was not well written and i did not enjoy it very much compare to some other novels that i have read in book club and outside of school. I think the story is extremely repetitive this book would have been better with only 100 pages. It was like if they took a 50 page book and extended it through out 300 pages. Because of this there wasn't a lot of this i found that there wasn't any detail in the book which I think is what really brings the story alive and puts you in the story. This book had a lot of potential it could have really put you into the story, as ellie or part of the 7 teens but it did not live up to my expectations.”alex.r wrote this review Wednesday, January 30, 2013. “This book is well written and has a lot of descriptive detail. Also the story is told from the girl that organized the camping trip's point of view. Despite the fact that it was a little bit slow in the beginning it certainly picks up. ”NinevehG wrote this review Wednesday, January 30, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
I've read this book in book club. We spent around one day reading 3-5 chapters. This book I think is a horrible book I've read. This is because I thought the writer was going too slow and put too much in the summary behind the back of the book. The writer basically spoiled the book with the title and as the reader read, they only read the parts that are very detailed. For example the writer is basically telling what happened and the conflict and the whole book I think was just too slow.”
“I really did like reading this book. It was one of those books that are much better than the movie. This could be because the movie sucked or the book was really good, or both. The story moves at a good pace of detailing the exciting parts and skipping the down time. The characters were made very well, as some heroic, some smart, some rude, and some scared. I found the theme or message is that leadership with show its self when it is needed. This happened in this book a lot with characters that you wouldn't expect to be leaders.”Jake S. wrote this review Wednesday, January 30, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

This story is a great book. Within this story, a bunch of kids go camping and when they come back home, war has begun. The setting is in Australia, and the theme of the story is survival. My favourite character is Homer because he is a leader, joker, and more. I think everyone should read this action-filled story because it has a lot of action, adventure, and more!”
“I really enjoyed reading this book because of the relationships among the 8 friends and because of their lack of experience, but they ten grow. The author really makes the reader connect to their situation by comparing real life thoughts and challenges.”Emma H wrote this review Friday, January 25, 2013. EQ: To what extent does power or the lack of power affect individuals?
The lack of power Ellie and her 6 friends have versus the invaders forces them to hide and evade so they won't get killed. Until they have a way to gain power for themselves and get an upper hand, they can't stand up for the injustice of their country being taken over. Their mindset is defensive because they don't have guns or nearly as many people as the invaders do. Therefore, lack of power has changed them and made them more cautious, planning, and cunning. The question is addressed as soon as they come back from Hell, because there is a war and they have to completely rethink their plans.”

I think that the best moment in the book was when the teens risked their lives to save Lee form the city. I also thought the book was GREAT! My favorite character in the book I thought was Homer because he was the character that changed the most. One thing the book was missing was a little more interesting beginning because it was a little plain. You should read this book if you love, action, cliff hangers, and romance, then this book is for you. I loved the characters in the book because each one was unique in their own way. I thought the theme of the book in the end was friendship through trust.

Essential Question: When should an individual take a stand against what he/she believes to be an injustice?
In Tomorrow, When the War Began, Ellie changes through out half of the book. In the beginning of the book, Ellie is somewhat quiet and does what others tell her to do. But towards the middle of the book, Ellie stands up for what she thinks is safest by semi-arguing with people about routes to houses. During the middle of the book, Ellie starts to notice relationships. She relises that she might like Homer and Lee. ”
