G. Donald Cribbs edited the themes of Speak Sunday, April 3, 2011.
- Added a theme: Literary allusions to the novel: Several references to the mockingbird in the book led me to believe Anderson was making a literary allusion to To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. After all, the poster of Maya Angelou should reference I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, as Angelou is also a survivor of rape. I asked Anderson directly through twitter, and she answered me. She said she does not recall a purposeful reference to TKAM, but she also believes that the author's intentions are not as important as the reader's own connections/interpretations. A very interesting point, indeed!
- Added the spoiler-free description of Literary allusions to the novel: Anderson did not intend to reference To Kill A Mockingbird with the several references to mockingbirds. Other references are intended.
- marked the description of Literary allusions to the novel as a spoiler
