Yes | No“This is a good introduction to feminism, but if you already know a lot about the subject, it's more of a review. Ms Valenti make a convincing case for why we still need feminism for young women who need to know that we are NOT in a post-feminist era. She also pushes the idea that it is okay to wear heels and make-up, or get crazy drunk... as long as we know why we're doing it. The idea is that, as women, we should be informed and pro-active in the choices we make, not let the choices make us.
Another important theme of this book is political, and more specifically, electoral involvement. All the issues that are important to young women aren't important in American politics because the majority of us do not vote. If we voted our issues would receive more attention, and perhaps we could work to get things done.
All in all, I think this is a good book. It's intelligent and well written. Don't let the profanity deter you.”
“I found Jessisca Valenti @ feministing.com. She is a voice of reason within modern day feminism. :)”

It takes away the stigma that has long been attached to the word "feminism". It is a term that has been given a negative connotation, "hairy, ugly, man-hating, bitches" when feminism is the fight for equality between the genders. Jessica does a fantastic job in backing up her arguments for feminism and keeps the text very informal so it is easily understood. I highly recommend this for anyone interested even peripherally in feminism.”
