Liked It“I know that it's just another love story, but it kept me enthralled the entire way through. It was a great read from beginning to end.” see full review » see other reviews » |
Didn’t Like It“This one was just too much for me! A highly unlikely meeting in a garden, twins, an unknown child, rumored impotence, jealousy, violent accusations, a rescue from death, and a happily ever after that went on and on and on. The first in the series did not make me excited about reading the rest.” see full review » see other reviews » |
““Potent Pleasures” by Eloisa James
Charlotte is a painter and virtuous young lady
Who one day decides to do something shady.
She attends a Cyprians’ ball while wearing a wig
And when she meets Alexander, she doesn’t give a fig
About her virtue, and so it’s adios to Virginity
Because Alex is hot (and pretty close to divinity).
But that isn’t the end, oh no. Not quite,
As the couple meet again one fateful night.

“Apparently I am not reading Eloisa James' books in order. The whole time I was reading this book, I thought the characters seemed familiar. Well, I read the book that comes after this one back in May. I wasn't overly fond of it.
I got into this volume a bit more. I don't know if it was the characters - I liked Charlotte - or if I was just more willing to suspend my disbelief.
I got what I wanted. I got involved in the story such that I could barely put it down. And that is what I want from my romance novels. So I suspect I will read another book by James, very soon.”
