Unlike most books on how to write, this one gave simple, clear advise that is actually helpful. The author explains 4 types of stories and basically how to structure them. He also recommends some other good books.

I would recommend this book for fantasy writers. Card offers plenty of tips that would usually have to be earned in the trenches. However, I highly recommend that you also read his book “Character and Viewpoint.” It’s brilliant. That book changed writing from a hobby to a craft for me. I’ve read and re-read it many times.

A must-read for any authors who want to get the most out of their words, whether you are writing science-fiction/fantasy or not.

Card walks the reader through several excerpts from Octavia Butler's 'Wild Seed.' He explains how the words convey information, and why certain techniques might work with one audience and not another.

All the common writing techniques are included, but there is information here you won't find in many other writing books.
