Most interesting philosopher ever. I Still think Socrates was autistic.

Okay. I sort of lied. But I feel I've read enough Plato to say that I've perused his "complete works." He's my Greek philosopher of choice. I still believe in the doctrine of opposites and the Ideas; and his view of utopia in the "Republic" gets me every single time. He thought that everyone should live in a whole big community with no family structure whatsoever. People could mate at will with whomever they chose, so long as such choice was approved by some sort of committee whose job it was to decide what unions would create the "best" children. And (the best part) people were to consider any born around the same time as them their "siblings," and refrain from sexual relations with them. However, one could obtain special permission from the eugenics committee to mate with a "sibling" if the committee thought that such union would produce a really good offspring. No. I'm not kidding.

Lauguage is a challenge, but it offers so much for the mind.

This book is the combined works of the great Greek philosopher Platp. Plato covered so many subjects, and had theories about all of them, theories that have affected the thinking of modern man. One piece of Plato's work that truly fascinates me is the Allegory of the Cave, which is a scenario about one's own reality, and what is the reality we all know and perhaps a reality that we don't know. I think this should be memorized because it can get our minds working and let us question the world around us.

The story of philosophy sparked my interest in reading more books on philosophical thought and this is a premier book to start. But I would admit that I am not a big fan of the style of argument by Socrates. The arguments are stretched into lengthy series of examples and the introspection of an idea looses its train of thought by the time one party ends its side of the conversation. But overall, its gives a good background on basic virtues of life and I would agree with Protagoras when he says virtues can be taught.
