Cast of Characters

  • Mark Cohen: Narrator of this Rock Opera, Mark is the filmmaker wanna-be. He is Maureen's ex.
  • Roger Davis: Roger is a songwriter who is HIV positive. He goes into withdrawal after his previous girlfriend, April, died. He comes out of withdrawal when he meets his new love interest, Mimi.
  • Mimi Márquez: Mimi is an exotic dancer who is HIV positive due to drug addiction. She helps Roger come back into the real world, and begins to fall in love with him.
  • Tom Collins: Known as Collins, he is also HIV positive. He is gay and the love interest of Angel.
  • Angel Dumott Schunard: An HIV positive drag queen, Angel is who keeps the group together.
  • Maureen Johnson: Maureen is Mark's ex, because she leaves him "for a lawyer named Joanne." Maureen is a performance artist.
  • Joanne Jefferson: A lesbian lawyer, Joanne is Maureen's love interest. Joanne can sometimes be uptight.
  • Benny Coffin: The partial antagonist, Benny wants to remove the lot where Mark and Roger live to create a cyber studio.
