Liked It“The ending was so lazy and ruined the whole book, if it wasn't for the ending it'd be a great book.” see full review » see other reviews » |
Didn’t Like It“I was expecting so much from this book. I honestly had been looking forward to reading it. I was geeted with a clunky awkwardly written story and a poor ending. The whole thing seemed rushed and forced for the paycheck.” see full review » see other reviews » |

Levin always has an element of satire in his books but it seems in this one he went whole hog. In twenty years no one is going to get the Rush Limbaugh joke or the whole republican thing. In the process of writing a pretty unfunny satiric novel, he managed to trash his very good prequel. Levin is a smart writer so I don't know what possessed him (pun intended) but it is too bad this was his last book. He did seem to me to write books about really bad dates but in this case the one suffering the most is the reader.”

Yes | No“ Ira Levin is normally such a good writer that how bad this sequel to Rosemary's Baby is ends up being startling. There are a lot of good ideas that make the story passable until the ending which is one of the worst cliches in the history of fiction done for no reason whatsoever. ”

I felt like it was predictible for the most part, and then it ended up having a very unfinished ending. I think it was meant to be "deep", but the wrap-up was done so abruptly...my brain hasn't completely processed what it all means. ROAST MULES, everyone!”
