Lawrence knows not of Islam and speaks of even less. When the adhan is called his mind wanders as he strains to understand the Muslim submission to the One True God, aching in ignorance and replete with his educational and cultural differences, unable to realise the true essence of his own existence. 7 pillars for Lawrence 5 for Islam.

If the five pillars of Islam are Faith, Prayer, Charity, Fasting and Pilgrimage, what are Lawrence's other two pillars?

This book is exactly the kind one should read if you wonder why the people in the middle east have such contempt for the west. Read this after the film and you will see how the painters alter the canvass to suit their politics. And, this friend of the arabs, such a deceiving soul - it behoves one how the arabs could have been taken in by him- at the end has no wisdom and has no pillars. What he is left with is an empirical world view that continues to twist and mutilate the lives of decent human beings around the globe. The ship has been renamed, and theres a new captain, but still it sailing the same waters. Should be called 7 cushions of stupidity, for in resting those heads, the blind can not understand the rich comfort of their own conceit.
