Perhaps the most important work in ethics in the second half of the 20th century. Post-Marxist reappropriation of the Aristotelean tradition.

Inspired my work in moral philosophy. A great read – plenty of insufficiently supported arguments (just how good philosophy should be)! Read it to expand your understanding of contemporary morality.

There is no better system of ethics than Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. Others have tried but failed miserably. It is does come up a bit short, however, and many people have tried to extend it gracefully. McIntyre seems to do the job of adding to it quite well.

If you're not reading philosophy you're doing something wrong... keep your mind working! McIntyre is terrific - picks up i think where Aristotle leaves us - a terrific contemporary philosopher....
