I was hoping for something more unusual, like Gregory Maguire or the Fairy Tales series compiled by Teri Windling. But as I read on, I was drawn into the story. “The best retelling ever!”

No other book could have immersed me so happily. Before I read this book I wasn't quite so much of a reader. I read mostly short re-told fairy tales. I didn't usually delve into the lengthy and vastly described retellings. However, Robin Mckinley managed to make her read magical and it enthralled me. I was up late for two nights that summer finishing this book. After this book I became an avid reader and I now read all types of books. This book changed my reading experience.”

Beauty is the youngest daughter and unfortunately very plain - especially when compared to her beautiful elder sisters, Grace and Hope. Beauty may have missed out on looks, but she got an extra dose of courage. So when her father returns from a trip with remarkable tales of an enchanted castle, having made an awful promise to the Beast who dwells there... Beauty knows what she must do. She must go and live with this monster, to save her beloved father.
A fantastic retelling of 'Beauty and the Beast'.”
“This version of Beauty and the Beast is possibly one of the best-written books I've ever read, as well as being a perennial favorite of mine. Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast is a fresh, more detailed take on the classic story, full of vibrant color and rich descriptions.

It follows the traditional story (which is NOT the Disney version, jst so we're clear) and its very well written.”
