This is a really beautiful book about a cautious hobbit who gets visited by a wizard one day. Before he knows it he is on one of the most exciting and scariest adventures of his life.

Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit, lived comfortably in his hole in the Shire until a wizard named Gandalf came to recruit Bilbo for the Treasure Hunting Gang that included thirteen dwarves. They were attacked by goblins while seeking shelter in the Misty Mountains. Bilbo found a plain gold ring after he was knocked unconscious. They regrouped and entered battle with the goblins and wolves killing the Great Goblin in the process. They escaped safely thanks to the eagles who lifted them out of battle. The soon seek Beorn a extremely strong man who has the power to transform him into a great bear to resupply themselves. After Beorn learned that their tale is true, they were resupplied and lent ponies until they reached Mirkwood Forest along with Gandalf. They soon discoved Bilbo's ring came in use, for hey were held prisoner by both the killer spiders and Wood Elves. They escaped thanks to Bilbo but unconfortably rolling down a river in a wine barrel. They were welcomed by the men under the mountains and resupplied themselves. They soon set off in search of Smaug and the endless treasure.

  • Bilbo Baggins: Is the hobbit and main character of the story. He is a small hobbit and considered a very good theif. He would rather sit in his hobbit house and stay out of anything than going on an adventure. This book really tests Bilbo's mind in wether he wants to continue and finsih this adventure or abandon his party and go home.
  • Gandalf: Is a wizard who origanally picked Bilbo to go with the party to kill the dragon. He appears once in a while to help the party along, but never endangers himself.
  • Smaug: Is a greedy dragon and protects mounds of treasure in his cave. He comesout only to terrorise and steal more valuable objects. Smaug is the whole reason for the hobbit to go along with a party to kill Smaug and his evil ways.
  • The Thirteen Dwarves: They went along with Bilbo to slay Smaug and obtain their treasure.

  • The Shire: This is the location where Bilbo's hole lays on The Hill. It is where the story begins and concludes.
  • Misty Mountain: This is where the wizard, hobbit, and thirteen dwarves got captured and were pillaged by the goblins. It is where Bilbo found his ring of invisibility and located Gollum. Also, it is where the eagles rescued them from the destruction by the goblins and wolves.They kill the Great Goblin (goblin king) in the process of escaping.
  • Mirkwood Forest: This is where they have to journey to get to their destination. Luckly, Bilbo helped them escape from the killer spiders and rescued them from the Wood Elves who held them prisoner.
  • Beorn's House: It is where the Treasure Hunting Gang stayed and nursed themself including their stomach into health in the company of Beorn. Once Beorn learned that their tale was ture, he gave them food for their journey and lent them ponies to ride until they reach Mirkwood Forest.
  • Elven King's Hall: This is where the Treasure Hunting Gang was captured and were rescued by Bilbo.
