i came across this book in an insanely cliche way. i stumbled upon it in the dark corner of my school library where no one went; back in a little niche- a place people tried to avoid. i scanned my fingers up and down the worn spines of the books, humming tunelessly to myself. nothing perked my interest. just things about your normal monsters and super heroes were stamped across the bindings. then the words "a ghost story" caught my eye. i kneeled down and slided the stiff cover out from the other tightly compacted passe books. i brushed away the dust from the cover where i saw an eerie picture of a graveyard, a little girl, and the title "wait till helen comes." i gawked at it for a moment then slowly ambled my wait to the check out counter. i stood on my tiptoes and handed the librarian the battered book, not taking my eyes off of it. she took it from my hand and scanned the sticker. then she looked at the cover. "Oh," she whispered. She looked at me and her eyebrows somehow went higher up her forehead. I didn't know what expression she saw on my face, but she handed the mysterious book back to me without a word. i blinked at her a couple times; then i ran back to class.

    i was not disapointed.
