“Loved it !!!
A Wonderful perspective (historical) on the mathematics of symmetry and its profound impact on sciences.......Its indeed a "Beauty to know The Truth"
And also sets an emphasis on why somethings ought to be done for their own sake, just for the sake of it and for an a priori said premise or "benefiting" reason”
“If you're looking for a great book to get a general knowledge of the history and evolution of mathematics throughout human history then you'll love this book. Ian has a great sense of humor and is very good at blending the sterility of technical math jargon with the often turbulent lives of those who made major contributions to the field.
However, I was duped by the title into believing that somewhere within the material Mr. Stewart would make various value judgments about beauty and math. In short: this is not a book on esthetics. I think that Ian intends to use the terms beauty and truth in according to definitions that he assigns to them in the book (which the average non-math-minded person won't appreciate until after reading the book).”
