“Competently written, with an engaging, self-effacing Buddhist hero-cop. Gets a little silly as Burdett wraps up sex and big money with the crime. But a good read set in an exotic locale. ”

“One of the most unusual mysteries I've ever read, and not because of its unusual setting (Thailand). The British author seems to know lots more about Thailand than the average tourist, and the differences in cultural expectations stay with me still. ”

“I really liked this book and the entire series. I once spent 2 months in Thailand, and I'm absolutely sure that has bumped up my level of enjoyment. Additionally, I am a Buddhist, so my interest was assured!

“This trilogy (?) is the most entertaining fiction story I have read that takes place in Bangkok. John Burdett is definitely the best writer in the Bangkok/Thailand action genre. ”
