“Wanting to know the real history behind Dracula, I picked up this book. I'm usually not one for early history, much less non-fiction books, which this is both. This book, however, was so good I read it twice! It covers the atrocious bloody history of Vlad Tepes and mentions the Countess Elizabeth Bathory "Bloody Mary". If you're curious about these historic figures and want to slake a morbid curiosity, then I highly recommend this book.”J. R. McLemore wrote this review Tuesday, October 26, 2010. for a Speech class in college.
It provided a ton of information on the real and fictionalize versions of Dracula”

“Brilliantly combines literature, history and folklore in the making of Dracula, one of the most enduring mythical characters in Western thought. ”V. C wrote this review Friday, April 18, 2008. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“This is chock full of vampire lore goodness. I love this book. It takes you through the myth, to Vlad the Impaler, to Bram Stoker's role in all of this, and ends on a more modern film and pop culture vision of this monster. ”dana p wrote this review Saturday, February 23, 2008. “This was a fun look at trying to get some factual or historical tidbits on Dracula. I looked for this book after seeing the 1992 rendition of Dracula directed by Coppola. That was an excellent movie.
The movie hinted to an actual history, so I delved in and this is the book I found.
