its a great book about a teenager who thinks her mother has disappeared on another alcoholic rage but when her obsessive disorder catches up to her she begins to throw work onto her slate so that she doesn't think about it.

Claudine, the neglected teenage daughter of an alcoholic mother, becomes "buried" in OCD behaviors as she tries to cope with her mother's most recent disappearance. Though I saw the "surprise" ending coming from a mile away, I think that teens will find this a compelling read. I'm not sure what genre this fits. It's not really a mystery though it was the winner of the annual Edgar Award which usually goes to mysteries. And it's not quite coming of age, though it could probably be squeezed into that unit.

Knowing the author might bias my opinion about this book, but it is definitely a joy to read. Suspensful, entertaining, fantastic. I love how it was written.
