This book was amazing! I really love this series. Yelena is such a wonderful character, and I love how her powers are developing. Of course there's the romance between her and Valek, which is very nice. I cannot wait for Fire Study to come out!

Good book. it does have some touchy subjects. it continues with yelena and her life as a taste tester. she has family problems with her brother thinking she is a spy. I can't wait for the 3rd book to come out!

Second in the study series. Just as good as the first, Poison Study.

Family betrayal, a power-mad serial killer and a potential diplomatic crisis threaten the independent-minded heroine of Snyder's fine sequel to Poison Study (2005). With the overthrow of the royal family of Ixia, 20-year-old Yelena Zaltana, who was kidnapped as a child by the evil magician Mogkan, is now free to return home to Sitia.

Continuing the saga, this series is gripping. Really enjoyed the author's vivid imagination and plotting. Love the way we can visit another country in this world, one where magic is allowed. The author is subtle in her treatment of contrasting views, there is positives in both systems, if a lot of mistrust between them.

I truly cannot get over how such a detailed journey through Maria Snyder's world-building just grabbed onto me and wouldn’t let go. Complex and completely enthralling, this story ~ this entire series ~ has to be read to be believed. But once read, they’ll never be forgotten!

This is the sequel to Poison Study and continues the same themes; of course, in this book the author explores the heroine's magical qualities. Still good story-telling, deeper into the fantasy genre and not quite as compelling as the first in the series. It definitely sets up the opportunity for the story to continue in a third book; in fact, it creates the expectation there will be a third book. Although I only give the book three stars, I would read the sequel is Snyder produces one.

I enjoyed this book better than the first, Poison Study. This type of book isn't something that I'd usually like, but I've started the third book, Fire Study, and am still 'into' the story ;)
