In Ranger's Apprentice 7, Erak is making a last raid when he is caught and is held for ransom. Will, Halt, Horace, Cassandra, and Gilan must find him and rescue him.

  • Oberjarl Erak: The Oberjarl or head of the Skandian people. He is very big and very rough.
  • Will: Halt's apprentice ranger. He is an orphan, but he has been training with Halt for almost 6 years. He is a good shot with the bow. He is almost ready to become a full ranger.
  • Halt: A griseled old ranger that is extremely wise. He is a legend in Araluen for his ability to solve problems and to disappear into the forest.
  • Horace: A fighting soldier of Araluen. He knows Halt and Will very well because they have served together in many battles.
  • Princess Cassandra (Evanlyn): Crown princess of Araluen. She is young but is very capable of taking care of herself in the forest. She is also very smart. When traveling she often uses the name Evanlyn.
  • Gilan: A Ranger of Araulen, also a former apprentice of Halt's. He a very good tracker and he almost silent when he travels thought the forest.
  • Svengal: A Skandian second in command to Erak on his ship. He is very big and rough.
  • Selethen or Seley el'then: The wakir of Al Shabah in Arridi. He is a strong and slender man excelling as a soldier. He is a very dedication and diplomatic tactics make him a strong leader. One you don't want to be against!
  • Alyss: Will's "Girlfriend," and one of the top members of the Diplomatic Corps.
  • Toshak: A Skandian who is very dissatisfied with Erak.
  • Lady Pauline: Lady Pauline is in charge of the Diplomatic Corps at Redmont.
  • Crowley: Comander of the Ranger Corps and Halt's old friend.
  • Yasul: The ruthless leader of the Tualaghi band, a group of desert nomads, who wear masks and fight with curved sabres. Yasul is a very cunning commander, as he attempts to kill Halt, Will and Evanlyn, but Evanlyn robs Yasul of his sanity by hitting him with a lead weight from a sling.
  • Hassan: The member of the Beduin tribe who races Tug, in order for Will to keep him. Hassan races on The leader's horse, Sandstorm.
  • King Duncan: King of Aruluen, Father of Princess Cassandra (Evanlyn)
  • Rodney: Battlemaster of Redmont and Horace's former master
  • Lady Sandra: Baron Arald's wife
  • Jenny: Former wardmate of Will, Horace, George, and Alyss; bridesmaid for Lady Pauline; develops crush on Gilan
  • Abelard: Halt's very intelligent ranger horse
  • Morgarath: An evil warrior who attempted to take over Araluen with an army of wargals and two kalkara
  • Wolfwind: Oberjarl Erak's famous ship
