  • Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third: the main character, and to be chief of tribe.
  • Toothless: Hiccup's dragon. A Common or Garden dragon.
  • Fishlegs: Fishlegs is sort of mysterious. It seems like he doesn't have parents or anything. But in the first book, How to Train Your Dragon, Hiccup gave him HIS dragon. Think how different the books would be if Fishlegs found Toothless, and Hiccup found Horrorcow.
  • Snotlout: Hiccup's evil cousin who trys to kill Hiccup, so he can be future Chief of the tribe. Has a dragon, Fireworm.
  • Horrorcow: Fishleg's dragon. Sleeps a lot and is a vegatarian.
  • Alvin the Trecherous: The nasty Outcast always trying to kill Hiccup and his friends
  • Gobber: Stoick's right hand man, and Hairy Hooligan Dragon Programme Teacher
  • Camicazi: Hiccup and Fishleg's Bogburgler friend, daughter of Big-Boobied Bertha
  • Stoick: Hairy Hooligan chief, Hiccup's father
  • Valhallarama: Hiccup's mother, Stoik's wife
