I love sarah vowell. I likes Assassination Vacation and the one about the pilgrims better, though.

I love learning American History with Sarah Vowell. Her wit and sarcasm and slant on things matches my on weird humor and outlook. Not sure her style would be for everyone.

Funny, very droll. Her squeaky voice only grates on your nerves for the first few minutes and then you get lost in her quirky observations about life and US History.

My second time reading it and I enjoyed it again. I love her quirky take on politics, people and places. Unabashedly sentimental yet logical and liberal - quirks I share.

Made me want to travel to typical American places like Yellowstone and even Wyoming just to bask in this being my country.

Personal stories wrapped up in history... Or is it the other way around? Either way, an enjoyable book. Looking forward to reading some of Vowell's others.

I never realized how funny history can be. Vowell shows us our own country is new ways through her love of facts, of places and people. You'll feel smarter after reading it. Helps to be at least a little history-literate before delving in.
