I love this author, this is the first in the series of the Vampire Huntress Legends, I absolutely love her writing style. She's an amazing writer, and the way that she weaves a tale is brilliant.

Thought I would like this so I bought the first two books but... just couldn't get into it as much as I wanted to. I like strong female leads and Damali is, but her story just didnt seem to flow that well, and her supporting cast, I ended up not caring about. I don't think I will continue with...

This got much better towards the end. The first part was somewhat boring.

I could not get into this book. Other reviews have talked about the dialect used and I have to agree, this made it difficult for me to read. You can tell that the author had a voice in her head and was writing it down but, like with reading a southern accent, if you don't use that accent or hear it regularly it made it really hard to read the dialogue and get a picture and voice in your head.

On top of it, the story was slow. I have read so many paranormal books now, unless they really capture my attention I can't get into it. I have read some reviews that say the second book is better so I will give the author another shot at some point.

This was a difficult book to stay attached to. I found my self getting really upset with the writing style.. (slang words) of this book. Pushed my self to finish it. I will not be rereading this one, but im willing to give the second book a try.

The first half of this book really bored me to dealth but because I always finish what I start I read the whole book and I was happy that I did because I would have missed out on a very entertaining series if I hadn't.

I'm going to start by saying this is not going to be a very large review. I have a few thoughts about this book, but not as many as in Lover Avenged.

We start easily enough. With a quick tour of the past, and then we go head first to the future. Damali is your average rock star. Few gigs here, and there. But she has a darker secret only her fellow band members know about. She is a huntress. Hunts vampires, and a few extra demons at night. Her friends, and practically family back her up, preparing her for the present, and the vast, dark, unholy future that lies ahead. Will Damali be strong enough to conquer her fears and inner passion? Or will she give in to rebellion, and temptation?

I thought the whole book was a first chapter. An introduction to the entire series. Since the first chapter we start off fighting and with secrets. I tell you it can get your head to spin and spin until you finally scream 'What the hell is going on!?'. It can get a little confusing at times. Plus the writing isn't that great. It's solid, but not out of the park.

Another thing, they are musicians, but we don't see a lot of music. More like kick ass action.

The characters are enjoyable, but I think we only got to see the surface of them. Not much character development in this installment. Well, maybe a tiny bit from Damali. But that's it. then again it's the first book, and it's a long series.

One thing is for sure, this ain't no dazzling vamps we got here. They are dark, they are evil, and they hate the sunlight. They got their own agenda, and let me tell you, nowhere in it does it involve dieting or saving the world; more like conquering it. I got to say, it's refreshing to see the badass side of vampires once again.

All in all a fun read. Buffy fans will like this one. It's basically the same concept. But with different characters, rituals, and plot.

The idea behind the book was a good one, but there were many unnecessary characters that weren't developed right and the plot didn't flow, it seemed choppy. Also the dialog was off; all the conversations sounded like some upper class preteens mocking or 'trying' to speak ghetto or hood.

I prefer to read a book that doesn't purposely spell the word please: "Pullease."
