One of my favourite sci-fi books. I read it as Tiger! Tiger!

I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, but I definitely enjoyed this book.

    In the future:
Mankind has discovered the hidden psychic ability to "jaunt". People rarely use cars anymore, teleporting themselves to their destination. Everyone has a range; how far they can jaunt: 5 miles, 10 miles, 100 miles, etc. One man, Gulliver Foyle wakes up on a distant asteroid, apparently the first man to jaunt into space. A ship passes him by. He flags them down for a rescue, but they keep going. Basically, Gully has this insane vendetta to hunt down and punish everyone on the ship, the "vorg." A Pretty good read.

Great character with some weird sci-fi, really liked it, esp. considering its written in 1956 :P

Came to this book a bit late and was stunned to realize just how
many writers owe how very much to Bester and this awesome, intense and lapidary little book that totally anticipates cyberpunk and the post cyberpunk writing of china melville and Charles Stross.

A top read for any sci-fi fan. I felt it was a bit dry in the middle, but the ending pulls everything together nicely. I do love how the character develops throughout.

Another classic by Alfred Bester .... a must read for those who want to understand what a true science fiction classic is. It is not about the science, but the human condition. Humanity in all of its glory and faults.
