High marks! This leadership book was great! I kept wanting to capture quotes every other page. :) It gave me a lot to think about and process about leadership - focusing on the character of a leader, rather than leadership tasks. I recommend it to everyone - whether you think you want to lead or not.

This book was a complete surprise for me. Someone suggested that I read this so I had no idea what it would be about. What I found was a thoroughly inspiring read about the lives of the Jesuits as they lived out their values of self awareness, ingenuity, love, and heroism. These concepts stir me daily as I seek to explore making the world human again - something we can not be about, I would dare to venture - without such values being lived out in our own lives.

A fascinating application of the empowered leadership model and decentralized organizational system of the Jesuit order to leadership and organization in other settings. Lowney, a former Jesuit, credibly applies the disciplines and attitudes of his order training to his work at Morgan-Stanley and by extension encourages its application for other settings.
Certainly worth the read if self-leadership is considered a predicate for effective group leadership.

A leadership book unlike any other. While most leadership books tend to extol businesses or sports coaches, this one examines the leadership principles set by the Society of Jesus, a 450-year old Roman Catholic organization. It highlights the attitudes and principles that has made this order explode from a handful of people to a worldwide organization that is perhaps best known for establishing some of the leading educational institutions we have today.
