The struggle these children must go through, the neglect and lies, is utterly preposterous. “Very detailed book. This is a sad story which features things such as forbidden love and family love. It is based on a true story and has been developed into a movie. Will definitely stay in your mind well after you've finished.”

“Young Adult Lit - from the 80s. I never read it as a teen and am sure that my adult mind appreciated it less than my teen mind would have. I kept wondering why they didn't look into other options than going home to evil grandparents. That said, the book was horrific and incredibly entertaining. I'm sure my teen self would've rated it 5 stars.”
