This book is heart wrenching and you finish the book in disbelief. The struggle these children must go through, the neglect and lies, is utterly preposterous. The book is written in great imagery and detail and reaches far into the readers heart, nearly ripping it out.

An ex-girlfriend got me to read this. It wasn't the only reason she's now an ex, but it certainly played a role.

Very detailed book. This is a sad story which features things such as forbidden love and family love. It is based on a true story and has been developed into a movie. Will definitely stay in your mind well after you've finished.

I loved this book! It was the perfect mix of horror and mystery. I really enjoyed reading it. It was one of those book that you can't put down. Once I started reading it could not stop!

Young Adult Lit - from the 80s. I never read it as a teen and am sure that my adult mind appreciated it less than my teen mind would have. I kept wondering why they didn't look into other options than going home to evil grandparents. That said, the book was horrific and incredibly entertaining. I'm sure my teen self would've rated it 5 stars.

Read the first 3 books (Flowers, Petals, & Thorns) in the early 1980s.
