Don't necessarily like the book...but I love remembering how much I loved this series in junior high. I felt so scandalous sneaking to read this book!

It's okay. I read it because of Sofia Coppola's short film entitled Lick the Star which mentioned the book.

I have to clarify this one. I liked this book then. I don't particularly care for it now. However, I think these books, while ridiculously overwrought, are good for teenagers. They can identify with the emotions, even if they can't identify with the situations.

I read this years ago as a twelve year old. This is NOT a young adult novel. Looking back, the themes in this book are entirely too grown up for a someone younger than fifteen or so to really understand.

This will be my review for the whole series. The series was interesting. A brother and sister fall in love and run away. They have four children and life is wonderful until the dad dies. When the mom takes the children back to live with their wealthy grandparents, they are secreted away in an attic where their mother can pretend that they never existed. The series follows the results of this forbidden love. The fourth and fifth books look at the offspring of the children and the grandparents, giving you both some conclusion to the story and some understanding to why it happened. All the old series prior to Andrews death end this way.

One of the most amazing stories ever written and definitely one of my personal favorites. And I own the copy with this "newer updated cover" too. ;) Which I have some slight qualms with, but I suppose it sorta almost represents the story. But either way such an amazing book. The rest of the series doesn't do the first book justice, at all.

reading it right now, pretty good, but I'm afraid it will lose plot.

A long time ago, I read this, as a young teenager. In retrospect, I have no idea how I would have come across this book. I couldn't put it down, but it freaked me out. After I was done I thought I might try another of her books, but couldn't get far, and that was the last I thought of them.
