“I was in high school when Flowers in the Attic came out. It was the rage with everyone at my all-girl school as well as with our mothers (at least mine). My mother, who has a really sick sense of humor, starting sending me to lunch with a powdered-sugar donut everyday after she finished with it. I just remember that series as being unlike anything I had ever read before. Even though I know it's bad for me, I still indulge sometimes.”
