Flowers in the Attic is about 4 children, who after their father dies suddenly, are moved by their mother into her parents home. Since the mother has a strained relationship with her parents, she locks her children in a small room and tells them to stay put until she wins over her father and is back in his will. The only place the children can play is in the attic which is connected to their room by a small staircase. The only people who visit them are their mother (occassionally) and their...

Flowers in the Attic is the first book in the Dollanganger series. Although I read four of the five books in the series, I wish I had stopped at the first.

At the beginning of the series, the four Dollanganger children (Chris, Cathy, Cory, and Carrie) hear that their father has died in a car accident, leaving them destitute and their mother Corinne desperate.
