Christopher Buckley never fails to disappoint.

Thank You for Smoking is filled with dark humor and witty phrases. It's a great read simply because you're cheering for a tobacco lobbyist and the rest of the Merchants of Death.

Nick Naylor is a spokesman for the Academy of Tobacco Studies, basically a mouthpiece for the cigarette companies. He's very good at his job, so maybe that's the reason the FBI and anti tobacco terrorists are targetting him. It's a bit slow in the beginning, which is why I gave it 3 stars.

The plot varies from the movie version (which I saw first), but it's engaging from start to finish. The characters are lively, interesting and hilarious. Buckley is a fantastic storyteller--and a wonderful writer. Those two characteristics aren't often put together, so take advantage and enjoy him to the fullest.

I don't often laugh out loud while I'm reading, but I did with this book--several times. Kudos, Mr. Buckley, kudos.

I liked it. And I'd recommend it. The ending felt a little flat for me...it felt kind of rushed. I did quite enjoy all the little word sillies...like how his son went to St. Euthenasius school. It's prompted me to go back and try the movie again. We'll see.

A beautifully written satire in its purest form.

This book follows Nick Naylor, who is a spokesperson for a cigarette company. He tries to do his job but he ends up in trouble with anti-tobacco people. Throughout the book he tries to come up with good ideas for how to promote tobacco. In the book Nick gets kidnapped and covered in nicotine patches and tries to figure out who tries to kill him. It turns out that his boss is behind it and when Nick figures this out he and his friends get revenge and in the end he quits his job. I thought this was a really funny book and it reminded me of an episode of south park where the anti-tobacco people are painted as the evil ones. I would recommend this book to anyone who understands and likes satire. I would not reccomend the book to someone with no snese of humor because it would not be enjoyable to read if someone did not understand it.

Fun, light read. It was a good book to take on vacation and read quickly. Amusing, likable characters and a well-crafted plot.
