Summary

The book begins on Tommo's first day of school, when he is really nervous. His brother protects him from the bullies. He is new to the school, so his freind Molly helps him out. Cast of Characters

  • Tommo: Tommo is the younger one of the two brothers. He is very shy and has a big secret. He is totally attached to his brother, and relies on everything for him. He respects him, and loves him. He joins the Royal Army during the First Great War.He is in the Same platoon as his brother,and has his brother is his protection. He is a shy person, who sometimes is very clumsy. He is 16 when he enters the war, so he is underage, but who isn't.
  • Charlie: He is the older one of the two. He always looks out for his little brother Tommo, whatever it takes. He also has a wife and a child, even though he just left high school a couple years ago. He goes to the frontline in France in WWI with his brother Tommo. He later gets executed by the firing squad for cowardice. He wasn't really a coward, but the total opposite. He was the bravest person in the whole story.
  • Molly: Molly is a shy girl that is one year older than Tommo, and one year younger than Charlie. She loves to hang out with charlies family, but after an accident she is not allowed to hang out with them anymore. After a couple years, she has Charlies baby, and is thrown out of her parents house. Charlie and Molly get married shortly after. Then Charlie goes to war, and Molly has the baby. She names him Tommo, becuase of his bravory in the war.
