- Mr. Hugh Pilaster: Son of Tobias Pilaster. Has been shunned by the Pilasters because his father took capital away from the family bank.
- Edward Pilaster aka Teddy: Son of Joseph and Augusta Pilaster who knows nothing about banking. He is mostly Mamma's boy and takes a liking to Micky.
- Micky Miranda: Close friend of Edward Pilaster who makes his way up the rungs of High Society by using Edward. He is the main antagonist in the story.
- Augusta Pilaster: Mother of Edward Pilaster and the main antagonist in the story after Micky Miranda
- Joseph Pilaster: Father of Edward Pilaster. He is a mild-mannered person who is constantly manipulated by his wife.
- Mr. Samuel Pilaster: Hugh's uncle who because of his sexual orientation could never become a senior partner.
- Antonio DeSilva: A childhood friend of Hugh who was always overwhelmed by Micky Miranda.
- Maisie Greenbourne/Robinson: A girl who falls for Hugh but is forced to move away from him by Augusta. She ends up marrying Solly. Greenbourne
