Ridiculously Simplified Synopsis edit
Summary edit
A group of colonists leave Earth in search of their own planet. After a few years on Pern, the planet is attacked by a space born life form that wipes out most of the colony, they have to adapt to survive.
Characters/People edit
- Sorka Hanrahan: A young space traveler from Earth. Her family brings her to Pern and she plans to follow in her father's footsteps to become a veterinarian. She, along with Sean Connell are the first to discover and impress fire lizards. Daughter of Red and Mairi Hanrahan.
- Sean Connell: Son of Porrig and Bridey Connell from Ballinasloe in Galway County in Ireland on Earth. He befriends Sorka Hanrahan and trains to become a veterinarian.
- Paul Benden: Admiral Benden was the overall leader for the colonists travel from Earth to Pern. He is a co-leader with Governor Emily Boll.
- Emily Boll: Governor for the first year at landing. Co-leader of the colonization with Admiral Benden.
- Sallah Telgar: Colonist and one of the twelve pilots of the Yokohama's three shuttle vehicles. Sallah was a Charter Member of the Pern Colony. Wife to geologist Tarvi Andiyar.
- Kitti Ping Yung: Bio-geneticist who engineers the first Dragons from firelizards. She was the most eminent bio-geneticist of the Federated Sentient Planets, the only human who had ever been trained at the Great Beltrae Halls of the Eridanis.
- Wind Blossom: Kitti Ping Yung's granddaughter who is also a geneticist and healer.
- Pol Nietro: Colonist, zoologist. Husband of Bay Harkenon.
- Bay Harkenon: Colonist, microbiologist and wife of Pol Nietro.
- Tarvi Andiyar: Geologist, miner, and head of mine engineering on Pern. He is of Indic ancestry with many holy men among his ancestors.
- Avril Bitra: Astrogator, was a shuttle pilot, the simulation coordinator, and she had a fling with Admiral Benden.
- Bart Lemos: A shuttle pilot.
- James Tillek: Captain of the Buenos Aires.
- Joel Lilienkamp: Was the supervisor of the cargo for Landing
- Theodore Tubberman: Head botanist of the colonists.
Setting & Locations edit
- Pern: The third planet orbiting Rukbat, a golden G-type star in the Sagittarian Sector. Pern is the third of five planets in the Rukbat system (the Pernese star is also known as Alpha Sagittarius). It has two moons, Belior and Timor (in order of distance). It was settled by a colonists from old Earth. It has two major continents and many habitable islands.
- Landing: Located on the southern continent of Pern where the colonists land and set up the first colony on Pern.
