The choice of words is superb! It helps you get attached to the character. Wonderful!
I agree! i love the book it was a great and devistating* story.
i cant believe that they do that to girls!
really, it surprises me how a few people have read this book. it's an easy read, with short vignettes. but the names maybe a little hard to remember. but when after you read it, LAKSHMI will never leave your mind. i love this book! beats dan brown's, really.
Ya I love how the book is organized!
I like it a lot it was very fun to but the only part I did not like was the part when Habib came.
What age group is this apropreate for my mom says I cant read it unless she knows that. :)
I think this book is for anywhere from 11 up. The whole book is about sex slavery, but it is looking at it from an informative, horrible, devastating point of view, not a "ooh look scandelous" point of view. It's realistic fiction, so it's not dramatized, and only gives the truth about real world events.
I just finished this book. i'm not sure what the actual age group is. but i know that even though there are some parts where she is being taken advantage of by men, they are not sexually explicit or vulgar.
I think this book is for more mature readers from 7th grade up. If your mom says you can't read it, ask her why -- she may be concerned with the situation discussed. Ask her if you can read it together. It's really a good book for showing how ignorance can be dangerous.
This book provided a good insight to what really goes in the world. It is amazing how many girls are tricked into this kind of slavery. I would not reccomend this book to my sixth graders because it is very detailed and parts of it are a little bit too graphic. As an adult, however, it is a good, eye-opening, easy read.
I was never aware of these issues in our world until I had caught a movie on Lifetime! This book gave even more insight and that is why I recommended it to my friends, because it gives insight on the disgusting things in the world. It really is a terrific, eye-opener!
It was a good book, sad but, good.
This was such a great book. It was really hard to read because it was so sad, but I loved it. I recommend it mostly to high schoolers and above unless you are a very mature 8th grader. Not because of graphic content but the difficulty of the subject. It's also a very fast read I read it in one night I love the way it is organized in vignettes!
I actually had to put the book a couple of times because of how rough it got and how it emotionally phased me! I've never done that before & I read the whole book in one night as well! Also, something I've never done before.!
I love this book, and it really shows that hardship that people endure without polishing it up. and That to me is important
this one my favorite book everr i read!
This is the only book to have me so hooked, I ended up reading it all in one day and didn't even realize it!
loved this book, shows how girls aren't that safe like we think they are in other parts of the world, I cant believe they did such horrible things to those girls, also shows what some people do in order to have what they want and what they are capable of doing in order to have their families well being.
