This is a compilation of articles related to software from some pretty amazing people who can write very well as well. It is a well chosen set and as a result this is a sharp, compact and extremely good book - relevant only to people in the software field I guess.

I love Joel and his writing. Anyone remotely involved in software design ought to read his compilation. Not only are these well-written articles, they generally provide very insightful in everyday software development.

Joel Spolsky is one of my favorite authors of technical content. His articles are deliriously funny and very thought provoking - so much so that the reader often forgets that he/she is reading a white paper on a pretty mundane topic such as how to perform a GUI requirements analysis!!
