Much like Equal Rites, Mort deals with the subject of apprenticeship, but it does it in a fairly different way. The eponymous character, Mort, is a clumsy but earnest young lad who is unsuited for just about any job his well meaning father can find for him. At a hiring fair, Mort's potential...

This is my favourite Terry Pratchett. Too good to describe.

In this Discworld novel, Death decides to obtain an apprentice. Mort's father decides that it is time for him to leave the nest and get an apprenticeship, but no one seems to want Mort, until Death shows up. As Death's apprentice Mort learns quickly and soon is trusted to do some tasks on his own. That is when he makes one decision that has consequences that threaten the future history of the Disc. Can Mort fix his mistake? I enjoyed this Discworld novel. Both Death and Mort are interesting characters. The book makes one think about consequences of spur of the moment decisions. The only criticism I have is that the ending seemed a little abrupt. I look forward to reading more novels about Pratchett's Death.

Another surreal, hilarious book by Terry Pratchett.

I loved this book. I'm a huge fan of the character Death. It's definitely not entirely what you would expect about a book that features Death. :-)
