“It's a pity that Ken Kesey stopped writing fiction after this, but he was so bothered by the critics comments that he forswore fiction from then on... No this is not One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, but then it isn't trying to be. It is a long sprawling story of how a family deals with changing fortunes... and it is great. When I finished reading it, I missed all the people. Yes it moves a little slowly at times, but if you let the rhythm of the writing find you, you will enjoy it.”
