“WAR, hunh, good GAWD y'all!
War, like Death, is something people would generally want to avoid. However, Wielding a Red Sword puts things into another perspective. What about all of the good things war has done for civilization? Through the pursuit of war, we've prevented terrible regimes from taking over the world, developed technologies which save lives away from the battlefield, and managed to implement occasional necessary reductions on an overpopulated planet.
This book introduces the idea of minor incarnations which are essential to carrying out the duties of the major incarnations. In this case, we're talking about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. ”

I still enjoyed it and I couldn't really put it down, I just was not attached to it as I was the others.”

It centers around Mars, the incarnation of War. The setup is similar to the other books in the series in that the plot leads up to the final engagement between Mars and Satan....a showdown of sorts. The thing about these books is that they feel thrown together. It reads like Anthony made the story up as he went along, and that's fine except that the story has the feel of a rough draft. It was interesting in parts though and a quick read. The first book in the series, On a Pale Horse, is by far the best.”
