Didn’t Like It2 of 2 members found this review helpful “I didn't really care for this book. I could handle the incest and the sex in it, although that wasn't a high point for me or anything. “This beautifully encrafted story takes place in the heart of 18th century England, to a young, passionate girl named Beatrice. The plot is twisted and horribly complicated (it takes 20 minutes at least for me to explain it to my friends) and the main character rips you up where you wish you could just stop all the world, kill them, and/or cry. It took me a month to read, although i'm a pretty speedy reader, so needless to say its some heavy stuff. Its all worthwhile though, as the ending leaves your head spinning and wanting more, despite its lack of a cliffhanger. I have yet to read the next books in the series but i am almost too afraid to. One of the best books of all time, but take note: Rated PG 13 for suggestive themes and need of hardcore maturity”

“prefer some of gregory's historical fiction over this more bodice-ripping type of novel, mostly enjoyable tho overlong.”
