Millman is good with his story telling with his transitions of passage of time. I just felt that there were moments when it just took to long to get to the point of it all. Overall an enjoyable read, but I do not see how after reading this that many people felt that it helped changed their lives.
I will take the movie out and see it again ....”
“This book provides a whole new way to view life. Most of us think we know who we are. We think we have life planned out. So did Dan Milman. While reading this book I felt like I wanted to be in Dan's place. I wanted to be purged of my mental toxins, i wanted to learn how to become a warrior. The book kept me interested with social dilemas and the problems Dan must face while becoming a warrior. One thing in particular which made me want to be in Dan's place was, while in the wrrior prcess, he began to excell in school. SPOILER Also when Dan broke his leg, I was amazed at how well it healed. The doctors said he would never do gymnastics again. A few years later, with Socrates’ training and knowledge, he was able to win the Championships. END SPOILER This book kept me turning the pages. One thing I didn't like how rushed the ending, time went by faster than the rest of the book. Still an amazing read.”

The characters are a lot of fun and likable, especially Socrates, but the story is pretty generic. There are no major twists or unexpected turns. Still, the anecdotes and dialog are often very funny and sometimes insightful. ”

While a fictional tale it is based in real life events. Dan Milllman provides and interesting and worthwhile perspective on life seemingly ordinary events.”
