From my notes at the time:

Dor, Irene, Scratch, and Chester leave Xanth and go into Mundania to rescue King Trent, who has gone on a trading mission.

Another Piers Anthony Xanth novel that does what each novel seems to do. Keep you entertained for a quick read. Nothing special here.

O.k., so honestly, I just enjoy the puns, and fantasy of the Xanth novels.

I owe Mr. Anthony a debt. It was while gobbling down my 10th Xanth book as an early teen it began to dawn on me that boring re-hashes of the same old silly tropes actually CAN convince someone completely hypnotized by the superficial appearances and shallow details of this literary ghetto that consuming this garbage is a complete fucking waste of time.

Thank you Piers Anthony, that was definitely a "Mission Accomplished" moment.

The Xanth novels are a quick, fun and funny read. Great starter books for young fantasy readers. There is a ton of them and you can pick up any of them and start. Very recommended
