Reading a Bapsi Sidhwa novel has always been an uplifting experience for me. The Pakistani Bride is constructed in and around a real-life incident when a young bride was murdered by the tribesmen when she ran away from her husband's house, which the author happened to hear on her visit to the Karakoram mountain area of Pakistan with her husband. It is a fast-paced novel. Again, not the best or the greatest book I've read, but certainly worth a try.

It is a fast paced novel. Not an excellent read, but not boring as well.
