She goes back and re-edits, adds only a little, but relives some past stages of her spiritual journey up to the present. It isn't presented in chronological order, and that doesn't matter. It matters that she is looking at what is important rather than throwing out the past. I think that's something we all need to do from time to time--those of us who think deeply about such things. This book doesn't compare to The Dance of the Dissident Daughter, but that wasn't its purpose.”

Sue Monk Kid has her finger on my pulse. Her spiritual journey resonates with me like a siren song. Maybe it's because she was a nurse before she became a writer, so our worlds often overlap in uncanny ways. Whatever it is, I'm hooked. This author is an unexpected jewel. I am somewhat awestruck that I have only recently stumbled onto her. I'm tempted to ask, "where has she been all my life?" But perhaps a better question is, "where have I been all my life?" When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

“Anyone thinking about being a writer should read this book. One day Sue Monk Kidd, who was a nurse, walked into her kitchen at breakfast and announced to her family, "I'm going to be a writer." She did just that. Sometimes when we pursue our dreams, they come true. Sue Monk Kidd is evidence of that truth. Dream On . . . .”

She shares stories that read like a great column you would look forward to reading in a newspaper each week. I love reading about other people's spiritual journeys.”
